Building an inclusive design community
ROLE
Head of Design - Leading a team of 4 designers
I’ve been building Incubed which is a design focused technology group in San francisco State University. I’ve worn multiple hats at this club, starting from a mentee to leading a design team of 4 to reach our design goals for the club.

Incubed aims to build a community of design focused entrepreneurs at San Francisco State University through teaching people about design and entrepreneurship. We have developed a strong network of designers and founders who work in and around the valley and invite them to hold workshops for students.
In 2018 the club hosted SF’s first collegiate hackathon, SF Hacks 2018 and I worked on the brand identity for the hackathon.
Hackathons is how I was introduced to building cool things. Student hackathons are an important stepping stone for a lot of students who don’t have access to company hackathons or developer exclusive events. Moreover, company sponsored hackathons have a very narrow specturm of projects which usually involve using the company’s API/dev tools. Collegiate hackathons are neutral in nature and foster a leraning environment for students.
Introduction
Hackathon
Why are student hackathons important?

Our ‘brand role’ is a simple and powerful statement that guides everything we do. Including how we look, think and talk to the world.

The Way We See It
Why?
The beauty of working together is that everybody has their own ideas and prespectives. However, if we want to build something amazing together we have to agree on a solid foundation.
